Moving House. Your Why.

Why do you want to move?

Moving is a huge life experience.

It’s expensive, stressful and time consuming.

It can be confusing if you haven’t moved for a while as there are numerous legalities and decisions to make.

Why is a move in your thoughts?

Has something happened to make it desirable or necessary?

Health and wealth are common factors. If your, or your partners health requires a move, closer to medical facilities, a different climate or perhaps you want a smaller home or piece of land, a change in lifestyle. There are many reasons why we want or think we need to move.

You may have considered a move for a long time or it may have jumped into your head following a holiday.

Exercise Caution

I stress that you exercise caution. Consider all the factors. Do your research. Who else needs to be involved in your decision. There will be many who have an opinion, some worth listening to, many not.

Complete a Pros and Cons list and flesh out each item on the list. What impact will your move have on you financially? Do you need to discuss with your financial planner or accountant (I would). Your children or other family members.

There are many questions that you need to have the answers to before you make the move, before you list your home for sale. The answers become more important the older we get when financial implications for a wrong decision can be more dire than when we were in our 40s or even our 50s.
